My fiance slipped the ring on my finger when I was sleeping and he waited all night until the morning to ask me . . . Of course I said yes! The best way to wake up.

Winter 2011 Winning Story:

My fiance Keith had arranged a lovely evening in NYC for New Years Eve night. We had cocktails and dinner at Madame Tussaunds wax Museum...and then ten minutes before the ball dropped the workers at the museum escorted us out to the first row in front of the ball. As the ball was dropping Keith knelt on one knee and took out this gorgeous ring and asked me to marry him...58 years ago his father had done the same thing with his mother! It was very romantic! It was a great way to ring in the New Year!

My boyfriend and I took my daughter to NYC because we wanted to see the sites and show her some of my favorite places. It was a bit chilly and a little windy but it was a great day. While there we visited the empire state building and my boyfriend insisted we go to the observation tower. The whole way up all the employees kept saying, "Very limited visibility up there" And my boyfriend just kept saying "that?s ok we wanna go up to the top." This was curious to me but I thought nothing of it because my fellow is quiet a curious man. We get to a checkpoint where you have to go through a metal detector, I walk through no problem, my daughter goes through, no problem, my boyfriend walks through and the things sounds. I turn around and he says "its ok its just my keys, keep going ill catch up" So we finally get to the top after ten more employees tell us we wont be able to see anything and we walk out onto the deck and its windy...VERY windy lol. So we take a quick look around and we pause where meg ryan and tom hanks meet up in "sleepless in Seattle" and he gets down on his knee and starts to smile. Pulls out a ring from him jacket (which is why he got stopped at the metal detector lol not his keys) :) and proposes. :) He says that he had a whole speech planned but because the clouds were blocking our view it wouldn'?t have made much sense lol. But then he said that even though from up there he could see the whole world, (typically) when he is with me I am all he sees and would I give him the honor of becoming his ?lady? (exact wording there) :) it was the greatest trip to NYC I have ever had.

December 15, 2006 JR gave me a promise ring in NYC under the Christmas tree. He said this is a promise that he will love me forever and one day wants to marry me.

four years later...

December 15, 2010 JR and I went into NYC to see the Christmas tree. We saw the tree, took some pictures and then we started to leave. We headed out the way we came in and JR said that is was the wrong way and started walking in the wrong direction and stopped back in front of the tree.

I was so confused at what he was going. He started telling me how much he loved me and wanted to be with me. And that four years ago that day he made a promise to me.

Then he pulled a small black box out of his pocket and alls I could say was "what is that? what is that?"

He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

I had a huge smile on my face and tears of joy in my eyes.

He took me into new york city for the entire day. At the end of the night he took me to the christmas tree in Rockefeller center, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The date was 12_11_10

My Honey asked me to marry him on the beach, I was extremely surprised :o)

As we drove through the countryside, I excitedly wondered where he was taking me. After six years of dating, I was surprised by the butterflies in my stomach. Then we pulled into the parking lot of Skies the Limit Skydiving Center. A sudden rush of panic hit me as I realized I would be jumping out of an airplane in a matter of minutes, and a second rush of panic hit me as I realized this was probably the day he would propose. It turned out that I loved skydiving; It gave us a chance to let go of any fears and take a leap of faith. The experience brought us closer together. However, I still did not receive the proposal I was looking for.
The next surprise of the day was our reservations at a beautiful Italian restaurant. As we were seated and the waiter left us on our own, I could feel my butterflies coming back. Would this be the place he proposes? Would these be the people that witnesses our engagement? I set aside my questions in order to enjoy the moment. After having a delicious meal and celebrating with champagne, he was ready to leave, and I followed. Little did I know, I was only getting closer to the moment I was waiting for.
Traveling through the Water Gap on our way home, I was just happy to be by his side. Since I didn't see him often, I was learning to appreciate the little moments we had together. Just then, he pulled into a lookout. This was the same spot we had shared many picnics together on summer evenings. It was obvious he had spent many hours preparing for this day. He began by sitting me down on a blanket, and bringing me chocolate covered strawberries. As we enjoyed a strawberry, we sat and took in the beautiful view of the colorful mountainside, and the river below. Next, he turned on a song I had never heard before, and holding my hands he began singing. He had written it and recorded the music on his own. It was the most romantic song I had ever heard. As the song came to an end, he stood me up and got down on one knee.

Josh and I have been together for ten years, we have been talking about getting married and weddings for the last six years. On February 17th, I presented him with a musical card that played Unchained Melody the card read " If there were nothing else but our love for each other...we would still have all we need" in inside the card I wrote a note that said" I have thought about making sure I had all the timing just right to pick a day we would remember the rest of our lives and so it seems there is always someone or something happening, I can't seem to find that perfect moment for a question I have been wanting to ask forever, I can't wait another day... WILL YOU MARRY ME??"
I left the card on the computer desk for him to find when he woke up a few hours later as he was getting ready for work he told me he liked the card I gave him, but no answer. When he got to work he sent me a text that said "I love you very much and I did not want to do this over a text but its like writing a note without the writers cramp, yes I will marry you! Its not traditional, but I would not want it any other way.

We were on a mini vacation to Virginia Beach since I was in my best friends wedding, we were walking on the beach and he proposed then dropped the rings in the ocean. lol

On Christmas day 2007, I was 6 months pregnant trying to fit into a nice outfit to go to my moms for christmas brunch. My fiance looked all nice and dressed up and I just felt like blah. so we go down stairs to open gifts and he was supposed to get me new tires for my truck but when we were all done opening he brought me back into the room by the tree and reached behind an ornament and pulled out a little box. He got down on one knee and said "will you marry me". Then he tried to open the box but it wouldn't open. I said yes before I even saw the ring.

The day my Fiancé proposed was a bit of a flub. I had given him tickets to an Eagles football game for his birthday and he decided that this would be the day he would finally propose to me. Well the day started off with us getting lost multiple times having a pretty bad fight and a lot of traffic. Finally we made it to the game and around came halftime. We were watching the announcement all kinds of different birthdays, and anniversaries played on the jumbo screen and when the end we just sat there in an awkward silence. My Fiancé turned to me and said ?whelp they didn't show my message but will you marry me anyway?" I said yes while crying of course. And come to find out the stadium seats were too narrow and he couldn'?t even get down on one knee so he had just sat there turned as close to me as he could to propose. It was just a day of if anything could go wrong it did. But in the end I had said yes and the Eagles won so it ended up being a very memorable December day.

My fiance proposed to me on my birthday this past year. I worked all day then had plans to go to my parents house with my boyfriend to meet up with my family. When we got to my parents house we discovered that no one was there. I called around just to find out that everyone else had to either work late or made other plans. I was very upset and just wanted to go home but eventually everyone showed up and although we had to remind them that we were going to be there, we still got to see everyone. My fiance was acting strange the entire time we were there and when we got home he made me wait in the living room while he got my gift ready. He eventually brought out this really large bag. I opened the bag to find the purse I've been wanting for a while...My fiance then told me to open the purse and what I found was a little black box...I immediately began to cry and my fiance took the box from me, got down on one knee, and asked me if I would marry him! I was blown away! It turns out the reason he was acting so strange was that he had been trying to gain approval from my parents to marry me and because he was extremely nervous. So of course I said yes and we called our families and gave them the great news! It was the perfect end to a not so great day.

Carlos proposal made the newspaper! He proposed to me on stage at Iberia Restaurant on 1/1/11 at the strike of midnight as we brought in the New Year. He is generally shy, whereas I'm definitely a social butterfly. It was very surprising to me when he got down on one knee in front of over 500 guests. We have been dating for nearly 6 years and I met him as a Freshman in High School. I'm so thrilled to be marrying my best friend!

We were in Hoboken. We strolled along the Hudson River hand in hand. He looked so handsome in his black suit.
?How about we eat our dessert here?? he said as he interrupted my thoughts.
He led me out onto a part of the pier that jutted out over the water. We sat down on a bench where we began to nibble on our dessert. I was waiting anxiously, but we finished our dessert and he still had said nothing. Then just as I began to resign on the idea that tonight was "the night" he took my hand, looked into my eyes and whispered "are you sure you are ready to spend the rest of your life with me?"
"Yes" I said as a smile crept across my face.
Then he leaned in and kissed me, but that was it. He stood up, took me by the hand and we began to walk along the pier again. Then just when I least expected it he got down on one knee. To be honest I'm really not sure of what he said at this point because my heart and mind were racing. He pulled out a little red velvet box and opened it to expose a sparkly ring.
"And that is why I want to spend the rest of my life with you...will you marry me?"
"Of course I will!"
As we embraced and I stared over his shoulder at the gorgeous ring he started to pull away from me.
"Well, I just want you to know that we don?t have to worry about catching the train...I have a limo coming to take us home.?
"What?" I said.
A limo pulled in front of the pier. As the driver opened the door I saw that the whole back of the limo was covered in rose petals. Nick and I climbed in and settled in our seats. Nick whispered "since you don't drink I figured we could have apple cider to celebrate". He pulled out two glasses and poured the cider. We toasted one another and our future together. Then he handed me a card which contained all of the reasons that he was happy to be engaged to me (basically everything I missed while he was talking during the proposal).

We had been talking about getting married and he had been asking me if he asked if i would say yes. One night we were watching P.S. I love you and he looked over at me and asked me if I would married him. I was shocked and asked him if he was serious. Of course I said I would.

We were celebrating our 4 yr anniversary by going out dressed up and we were just taking a walk after dinner and he told me how he has been thinking more and more about getting married and how he thinks he is ready and as he was telling me this I had my back turned, and as I turned around he said to me and I will never forget he said so how do you feel about marrying me and produced the ring and I was in shock, kept asking him was he serious over and over, i still hadn't said yes, so i finally said yes and he placed the ring on my finger and we kissed and hugged for at least 10 minutes

Marc and I have been together for over 5 years. We have two beautiful girls together, Cadence who is 3 and Alydia who is 19 months. Marc has supported me by working full time (even two jobs for a while) so that I could work part time and go to school full time. I graduated from college in May 2010. Now that we are both working, we are determined to save up for a nice wedding in order to officially show are dedication and commitment to each other for the rest of our lives.

Mike, my now fiancé, is a complete tech geek. Since we have been talking about getting engaged for a while, I always joke around that he isn't allowed to buy another Apple "toy" unless I get a ring. On May 30th, he came home with an Apple bag and it annoyed me. After jokingly bad mouthing his Apple products and Steve Jobs (the CEO of Apple) for a good 10 minutes, Mike pulled a ring box out of the bag and asked if I would marry him.

My boyfriend now my fiance was going in the marines and we both decided that we couldn't live without each other. He wanted me to move with him on base. But the only way I can do that i if we are married. On my nineteenth birthday he surprised me by asking me to marry him. It was the cutest thing in the world!

I was proposed to at home. We were sitting outside by the fire with a bottle of wine. My boyfriend attached the engagement ring to my dog and the dog was suppose to come running over to me. However, the ring fell off before he got to me so my boyfriend had to search the grass in the dark looking for the ring. I was unaware of what was happening so the whole thing was quite humorous to watch my soon to be fiance scouring the darkness for a ring that I knew nothing about. I can only imagine how he must have been freaking out while i sat by the bonfire sipping my wine completely relaxed.

My fiancé had only been back to work for 3 months after a 10 month layoff so I was so shocked when on Christmas Eve he proposed. He made me the happiest girl in the world! We had just come back from dinner with the family and went to exchange gifts when he came out of the bedroom with this little red gift bag. I opened the bag and found a little white box inside. He then took the box and got down on one knee and the rest is our new history! We have been together for 12 years now. I'm so looking forward to spending the rest of my life with my best friend my soul mate!

On April 20th, 2011, the day before he was to leave for Afghanistan, he decided to stop off somewhere special: it was a surprise. We ended up at the Ionic Colonnade at Princeton Battlefield Park. We walked hand-in-hand to the white monument and sat down on the steps, me on the lower step, and him behind me. He asked me how much I loved him and for how long would I love him. I told him that I would love him forever! I turned my head away for a moment and when I turned back around, he had the box open in front of me with the beautiful ring inside of it! A complete surprise! I didn't say anything for a moment, I was so stunned. I started to cry and of course, I said yes!! We were excited to go to his mom's house and tell everyone the good news. We celebrated by opening a bottle of champagne and eating hoagies from his favorite restaurant in Princeton, Hoagie Haven. It was a beautiful moment that both of us will remember forever!

Kirsli S.

My name is Kirsli Spinks and my husband to be is named Scott Spinks from Basildon, England. Scott was looking up other Spinks' on Facebook one day and came across my picture and thought I looked interesting. We started talking then and our friendship quickly developed and soon we were talking every day. We found we have a lot of things in common such as our love for tattoos and our music choices. Our similarities didn't stop there, we soon found out that our mothers share the same exact name with a few spelling errors (Cheryl Ann Spinks and Sheryl Anne Spinks) as well as them sharing the same year of birth and having uncles named Paul Spinks.
At this point I was living in the US but a month before we started talking I had been accepted to attend University in London. At first we started talking about my big move across the Atlantic as I had never even been to London before and I wanted to know everything about it before I moved over there. From the day we started talking we have been in constant contact with each other whether it was by phone or email or text. I moved over to England and Scott and I have been inseparable since the day we met.
For our engagement we took a seven hour train journey to St. Ives in Cornwall, England for a couple days to see the Atlantic Ocean and soak in the nicer weather and a nice break from the city. We spent the whole week hiking and visiting smaller cities in the area. On the last night we went to a nice restaurant called the Mermaid and Scott told me he forgot his wallet (and what an expensive mistake that would have been!) and while he was pretending to look for his wallet he pulled out the ring and asked me to become Mrs. Kirsli Spinks instead of Miss. Kirsli Spinks. I was so excited told him no and then let him sweat it out a bit until I said yes. This is a very exciting time for us and sometimes we even toy around with hyphenating our name or squaring it! I'm just glad I don't have to change my name!

My fiance Rich and are ski instructors and we like to ski a lot. We were skiing in Vermont at Smugglers Notch. We are extreme and like to hike to ski in the backcountry. We were hiking to the top of Sterling Pond. Rich and I strapped our skis to our packs and started hiking. Rich was in front of me. We both have go pro video cameras. He had his on his chest mount and tapped the whole thing. We we got to the top we both bent down to undo our skis from our packs and Rich stayed down on his knee and I went over to him to give him a kiss, and pulled out the amazing ring, asked me if he could ask me a question. I said sure and asked me to marry him.

We went on a road trip to celebrate our nearing graduation from college. We were going to Montauk, NY aka ?The End?. It was a very symbolic trip for us because we started dating the day before classes started freshman year and here we were nearly four years later about to graduate. When we reached ?The End? we admired the view and took many pictures. After some breakfast at a diner we went to the Atlantis Marine World Aquarium where we watched the sea lion show, touched sting rays, and many other exhibits. The last exhibit that we went to way the Penguin Show, where we learned about the penguins and watched them be fed. Amongst other things we learned that penguins are loyal mates and that they mate for life. After the show we went over to the docks and John asked a couple to take a few pictures of us. On the second picture he got down on his knee and said, ?Jamie, will you be my penguin? Will you marry me?? I said, ?Yes?

We found each on Match.com, but we met for the first time at Finnagels, here in Hunterdon County--which is where he popped the question--in the parking lot (which is where we first laid eyes on each other)...my fiancee Gen, totally threw me off on May 7th 2011, by saying he left his credit card at the hess gas station on 31 so we took a ride to get it and as we passed Finnagels I actually commented on how that was where we met and he said that it was our special place so we should stop in--we had plans to go somewhere else so it totally caught me off guard! He said he knew he loved me as soon as he saw me across the parking lot...so he said let's go get a drink! We both got out of the car and he came over to my side, hugged me got down on his knee and asked me to marry him...I was so surprised I didn't even answer! I couldn't process it fast enough--we both started crying tears of joy and I said Yes! and we hugged and freaked out a little bit! Then he told me that he had asked my parents permission that morning and that his parents and mine were coming over the next day to celebrate our engagement and Mothers Day together!
